Chris Hipkins is the current Minister of Education in New Zealand. He was appointed to the role in October 2017, following the election of the Labour-led government.

Hipkins was first elected to Parliament in 2008 as the Member of Parliament for Rimutaka. He was re-elected in 2011 and 2014.

Prior to his appointment as Minister of Education, Hipkins held a number of portfolios, including Minister of State Services, Minister of Immigration, Minister of Health,
