Barry Humphries is an Australian comedian, actor, satirist, artist, and author. He is best known for his on-stage and television alter egos Dame Edna Everage, Sir Les Patterson, and Sandy Stone.

Humphries was born in Melbourne, Australia, in 1934. He attended Melbourne University, where he studied law and economics. He began performing in the late 1950s, and his career has spanned over six decades.
